About This Song
"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" is one of the most beloved lullabies in the English language. The lyrics are from an early 19th-century English poem written by Jane Taylor, first published in 1806 in the collection Rhymes for the Nursery.
The melody is based on the French tune "Ah! vous dirai-je, Maman" from 1761, which was later famously used by Mozart for a set of piano variations. This same melody is also shared with the "ABC Song" and "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep."
